THE BEAUTY OF THE POSSIBLE. ART OF PARAGUAY
This exhibition presents a vibrant and diverse collection of works by Paraguayan artists, including Fernando Allen, Marcos Benítez, Bettina Brizuela, Claudia Casarino, and many others. This exhibition celebrates attainable, everyday beauty, inspired by the etymology of the Guaraní word "porã," which suggests something "at hand."
The exhibition resembles a kaleidoscope that brings together a variety of forms of beauty, reflecting the cultural richness of Paraguay through popular ceramics, feathers, indigenous textiles, and works in paper, metal, wood, and fabric. In addition, the exhibition includes works that explore light and photography, highlighting the diversity of artistic expressions and the aesthetic-poetic production of different human groups within this territory.
The Francis Naranjo Foundation, characterized by its nomadism and ability to weave networks in each place, has put together this collection highlighting the abstraction, rituals, and textures of Paraguay, creating an emotional connection and dialogue between the works and the public.
THE SOUL OF THINGS: an approach to the work of Joaquín Sánchez
Complementing the main exhibition, "The Soul of Things," an approach to the work of Joaquín Sánchez, is presented. Throughout his career, Sánchez has explored territories that cross him and shape his sensitivity and artistic narrative. His work contexts include Paraguay, Bolivia, and Mexico, where he chooses materials and languages that resonate within him, such as the anatomical figure of the heart, recurring in his work.
In Guaraní, the word for heart also means soul, reflecting the interconnection between body and spirit. Sánchez's works, full of ñandutí hearts, balls, protective bulls and chola skirts, capture the essence and trace of the soul of things. These elements evoke shadows and echoes, representing the reciprocity between the artist and the objects, and suggest that each piece carries a part of its creator's soul.
The exhibition invites visitors to discover this possible, everyday beauty, and to experience the emotional depth of the works, revealing the connection between the artists, their creations, and the public.
